The Pithy Take

The director of the British Museum, Neil MacGregor, spends 100 episodes telling stories about 100 historical objects–it is a mini-journey through the world, through time, and through cultures. He covers not only what the object is, and its age and materials, but also its significant affect on society.

As you might imagine, the objects vary; for instance: an African Akin drum, a Hawaiian feather helmet, the ship’s chromometer from the HMS Beagle, a Russian revolutionary plate, and the Australian bark shield. The episodes are brief (usually just under 15 minutes), informative, well-paced, and fascinating.
