The Boys (Amazon Prime show)

Grtiftopia claws back the layers of U.S. politics and its economy and holds up the festering innards for us to examine–The Boys does something similar, but with superheroes. We’ve been drenched with the idea that superpowers correlate with super morality, but The Boys shows us how power, especially too much of it, unchecked, can be devastating. It’s a dystopic examination of superheroes: what happens when they are revered, assumed to be working for the greater good, but actually just human at the core. The show is thrilling, funny, dark, and oddly realistic–watch it with the lights on.
